Interview with Offal from Brazil

Offal oozes putrid death metal! These guys are sick as hell. Keep your eye out for releases from these sickos, they are worth your time!

1. Hey Andre - how’s your day going? Thanks for taking your time to do this interview man!
Ohhh, everything is okay here! Really nothing special but we keep trying to get it better!

2. Tell us some history about Offal , when did you guys start, what’s the lineup, etc.
Well, we start our activities late 2003 as a trio just playing some Autopsy’s covers and originally called Orgy in Excrements (Autopsy’s Acts of the Unspeakable song). Some time later we start to do some own songs and when we got some good ones we decided that we must record that stuff! So, we did and I sent it just to some local friends, we really didn’t have any plans to put that stuff out as an official release or something else! Some months later my friend Renzo of I Shit on Your Face would start a label (The Hole Productions) and I sent him the whole stuff, so he said that would like to release it as your number one release! It was really awesome, so we start to produce the whole cover / layout and some months later our 1st full-length was finally out, Offal – S/t full-length CD – The Hole Productions 2004. Fortunately we got several good responses about the CD and nowadays it’s totally sold-out! Later we got some few line-up changes and recently we put out our latest stuff, a split MCD with the Aussie freaks of Bowel Fetus also via The Hole Productions, try to check it!

3. What’s on the horizon for Offal? Any new releases? Tour?
We’re currently working on our 2nd full-length CD to be out late 2009 and we’re planning a split 7”ep too! We’ll keep you all updated about the news.

4. What’s your favorite band that you guys have shared the stage with?
Ohh well, all our gigs were great experiences for us, specially ‘coz we played with great bands such as: Agathocles, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Stoma, Isacaarum, Flesh Grinder… People always give support to us at our live appearances, the freaks are violent and the stage-diving and the mosh-pit circle are really intense, great!

5. Tell us about your record label. Who has released most of your guys stuff?
We’ve just two released stuff: Offal – s/t full-length CD and our split MCD with Bowel Fetus both on The Hole Productions / Brazil. This label is really important for us and all that Renzo did was really essential. His support was really amazing and he always did a great promotion for Offal. It's really easy to find our stuff on most worldwide labels and distros and we got some great responses about both releases. Unfortunately we won’t work together again ‘coz he has other plans for the future and we also think that he can do some opportunity for other new and young bands to put their stuff out, like he did for us in the past! Renzo is one of our best friends and will always be! He’s really doing a great and honest work with his label and with his sick band I Shit on Your Face (Check it out!). Support him, support him! ALL HAIL THE HOLE PRODUCTIONS!

6. So, you guys have a KILLER logo, who was that drawn by? Have you had any others?
Ohhh, thankxxx a lot for your nice comments about logo, great to know that you’ve enjoyed it, thankxxx! Our logo and our latest artwork on the split MCD with Bowel Fetus were drawn by our friend Putrid, you probably saw other sick and vile artworks from him on some stuff from IMPETIGO, CIANIDE, HOODED MENACE, BLOOD FREAK and tons of other awesome bands! Putrid is really a great artist and he really knows what the bands want and what they are about, on this way he can do what the best he has to offer on his amazing and gruesome artworks! 7. What do you do for a job outside of metal?
Well, I’m currently running to finish the university of Zootechny, I’ll work with full animal production. Tersis Zonato and João Ongaro are graphic designers and are currently working with graphic and web design. Eduardo Tobe works with photography and cinegraphy for a worldwide skateboard magazine called Transworld.

8. What’s the process behind writing an Offal song? What are your lyrics about?Well, the lyrics are totally into that disgusting, twisted and vile blood-splattering Old-skull Death Metal addicted to the splatter platters of the 70’s, 80’s and Italic90’s B-cinema following to all that cult late 80’s / early 90’s Death Metal founders! There are lots of bands doing it nowadays and other ones that already did but we’re always trying to do something different and with our own characteristics and this whole old-school universe has all that we need to do something really great! As for the music, we bring some ideas to rehearse, then each one can say what can be changed or improved on the songs.
9. Any plans on coming to the U.S. sometime? If someone gives you the right amount of money eh?
Ohhh, it’s one of our main plans for the future. We really want to play outside Brazil 2010/2011 and we would like to play over U.S. especially ‘coz we have lots of great friends over there and there so many awesome bands to play together that would be really a dream come true if we can do it, we really hope so!

10. Do you play in any other bands? Or have you been in any previous to Offal?
Yeahhh, we all are involved on other bands and side-projects, they are: Lymphatic Phlegm, Creampie, Lutemkrat, Terror Scream, Svartalfheim and Deformed Slut.

11. Final words?
Thankxxx a lot for all your whole support and for this great opportunity, we really appreciate it! Our newest split MCD with Bowel Fetus and our 1st official T-shirt are available right now! Anyone interested get in touch with via: www.myspace.com/offalxxx All the best and thankxxx again and again for this great intie! The past will never die, the cult is alive – All hail old-skull Death Metal!
